Alter Ego returns for a seventh year as part of the 2019 Discover Young Hackney Festival. Welcoming the best of the capital’s underground to Hackney Empire’s legendary 1200 seat auditorium on the 10 May 2019.

This talent showcase is about giving the city’s undiscovered talent their spotlight; singers, dancers, poets and rappers from all over East London will be competing for that winning title! Expect Grime, Rap, RnB, Afrobeats, Contemporary and much more.

This year Kojo Funds will be headlining alongside other amazing artists such as Hussain Manawear, Yung Fume and more special guests, who will be announced closer to the night!

Alter Ego 2019 is presented by Hackney Empire in collaboration with Hackney Council and Discover Young Hackney.  Discover Young Hackney gives young people in Hackney the chance to make a mark, showcase talent, get a foot in the door or just try something new. This year all proceeds will go to Road to Freedom; a charity that raises awareness of the refugee crisis, while providing immediate aid and long-term support to those fleeing war-torn countries.
