Volunteering

Volunteers are highly valued by Young Hackney.
Our volunteers enjoy:
- A dedicated point of contact.
- Role-specific training, as well as access to a range of other training.
- Provision of agreed expenses.
- The opportunity for personal and professional development.

To become a Young Hackney volunteer you have to be 18+ years old, submit an application form and attend an informal interview. Successful DBS and reference checking is also a requirement.
We ask for a commitment of two hours a week, but we can be flexible to accommodate your schedule.
In return for your time we offer full reimbursement of travel expenses and lunch expenses up to £5, support and supervision, training opportunities and references.
New volunteering opportunities for summer 2025 will be available in the next few weeks – stay tuned!
If you have any questions, please contact our Volunteering Coordinator, Xanthippi Karkantou, at xanthippi.karkantou@hackney.gov.uk or 020 8356 3962 for more information.
