Junior Citizenship Scheme 2022 – 2023
Over 2300 children from 60 different schools across Hackney took part in our Junior Citizenship Scheme workshops at Forest Road Youth Hub in November 2022 and January 2023 to help Year 6 students transition successfully to secondary school and beyond.
Workshops were held by teams in the Council and Young Hackney including Road Safety, Health and Wellbeing, and Substance Misuse, as well as partners including the London Transport Museum, London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, and London Community Credit Union.
Young people learned a variety of different topics during the interactive workshops, such as road safety, dental care, using public transport safely, opening a bank account, and what to do in the case of a fire.
The Junior Citizenship Scheme is coordinated by the London Transport Museum from Transport for London in partnership with Young Hackney. Every school across the borough including SEND and independent schools are invited every year.
